Plant Maintenance Electrician Job in Oman
A leading company in Oman is hiring an experienced Plant Maintenance Electrician for their aluminum and copper recycling plant. This is an excellent opportunity for an industrial electrician with hands-on experience in low-voltage (LV) systems in a heavy-process environment such as a foundry, smelter, steel, cement, or glass facility.
Purpose of the Role
Maintain and operate low-voltage electrical, control, and instrumentation systems for a non-ferrous metal recycling and casting plant with a maximum demand of 1,200.56 kW. The role also includes supervising installations and furnace commissioning.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate, inspect and maintain the LV switchboards, feeders, cabling and earthing system.
- Carry out thermographic surveys, termination torque checks, breaker functional testing and earth-resistance testing, and maintain the records.
- Maintain motors up to 90 kW with their starters, soft starters and drives, including parameter records, overload settings, insulation and winding testing, and fault diagnosis.
- Maintain the furnace electrical and control systems: burner panels, combustion blowers, flame safeguard, gas train solenoids, thermocouples, temperature controllers, tilt controls and interlocks.
- Ensure safety interlocks and lockouts are never bypassed.
Qualification
Diploma in Electrical Engineering or a recognized national electrician trade certificate.
Experience
Minimum five years as an industrial maintenance electrician. At least three of those years must be in a heavy-process plant like a foundry, smelter, steel, cement, or glass facility.
Technical Skills
- Hands-on experience with LV systems, incomers of 1000 A or above, and installations of 1 MW maximum demand or greater.
